Abstract

The Open Linked Amazon vocabulary, shorten OLA, is a Linked Open Data vocabulary aiming to provide statistical and geographical terms such as "hectares", “plantedArea”, "harvestedArea", "amountProduced", “thousandReais” to enable spatio-temporal analysis regarding social and economical facts. This vocabulary was mainly developed to support researches of deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest with correlation of social and economical aspects, so that their relevance to the deforestation phenomena can be evaluated. .

This documents specifies the classes and properties introduced by the Open Linked Amazon Vocabulary.

3. Descriptions about the Open Linked Amazon Vocabulary

The Open Linked Amazon Vocabulary definitions presented here are written using a computer language (RDF/OWL) that makes it easy for software to process some basic facts about the terms in the Open Linked Amazon Vocabulary, and consequently about the things described using AMAZON.

3.1. Evolution and extension of the Open Linked Amazon Vocabulary

The Open Linked Amazon Vocabulary is identified by the namespace URI "http://observedchange.com/amazon/ns#".

Revisions and extensions of the Open Linked Amazon Vocabulary are conducted through edits to the namespace document, which by convention is published on the Web at the namespace URI.

The properties and types defined here provide some basic concepts for describing amazon information. Other vocabularies (e.g. the Dublin Core metadata terms, FOAF, the Time Ontology in OWL, the Open Provenance Model Vocabulary, etc.) can also be mixed in with AMAZON terms, as can local extensions. AMAZON is designed to be extended.
