Access to actual sensors for developing or debugging a sensor application may cause additional costs and time; more efforts are needed to search and translate the publicly available data to suit the application’s requirements.
A sensor simulator implemented as a Java-based standalone application has been developed to serve as an alternative for actual sensors. The simulator is modelled after the Open Geospatial Consortiums’s (OGC) Sensor Model Language specification. The simulator is implemented by Christoph Beekmans (a student assistant hired by IRTG SIGI). The development is advised by Anusuriya Devaraju, and it is part of SEGO research.
Figure 1 illustrates a screenshot of the simulator’s user interface and Figure 2 shows a map-based interface to access simulated sensors and their observations.
If you have any questions about the simulator or you would like to request a copy of the simulator, please contact Anusuriya Devaraju at anusuriya.devaraju@uni-muenster
